What you’re missing is that the Haitians immigrants Trump and Vance were lying about were and are here legally. In fact, not one case of a Haitian immigrant was cited that I’ve seen of them being here illegally. And in fact, the mayor of Springfield (a Republican I believe) lambasted Trump for spreading lies about his community. He was complimentary of the Haitians as have been many business leaders. Why? Because they can’t find Ohio natives to fill many of the jobs they need to fill. Or perhaps due to many of the reasons Vance cited in his book back in 2016 - there’s a culture of laziness, blaming the government while crying woe is me, and simply refusing to work.

I’m all for immigration controls and doing more to support working families in America’s heartland. But it’s hard to do so when people like yourself parrot talking points from Fox News and other conservative media (which now controls X) instead of substantiating your points with facts. Although I’ll change my mind once you offer sources that cite how Haitians were there illegally, how they actually ate cats and dogs, and how they caused any crime whatsoever. Because everything I’ve read suggest they’re model citizens that can give native Ohioans a run for their money.

This is a tale as old as time. Blame the new people in society. They once did it to my Irish ancestors in America too.
