What evidence is there of bribery? I agree it’s in Meta, Google, etc’s best interests to get TikTok out of the way, but I think politicians fear the threat from China far more than the money they want from Big Tech (many in Congress and in agencies like the FTC are making more efforts to regulate American big tech, not less).

The threats from China should not be underestimated: subliminal manipulation of the 170 million Americans who use the app, data privacy, misinformation/disinformation, etc. Any foreign government (including the U.S.) dreams of having that kind of access to an adversary’s population.
