My wife and I moved into a house that had colored walls everywhere. The colors were dark and intense. The rooms were sizable, but the deep greens, blues, and reds made them feel small. As if the walls were encroaching on our space.

The dining room in particular emoted a revolutionary war scene with its dark burgundy walls.

So we decided to paint the walls white. Almost all of them. It immediately elevated our space and made us feel rich.

Beyond the mood boost, there are many other benefits with painting a space white. And if your walls are already that color, there are good reasons to refresh its whiteness.

I am not advocating for hospital style living. White does not have to equal cold, dull, or sterile. It can serve as a blank canvas to dress up or down.
