This statement makes major assumptions. First being that Russia wanted a negotiated peace, which a year ago they sure didn’t seem to, especially after trying to take Kyiv and attempting to topple the Zelensky regime.

Second being that even if Putin agreed to a peace agreement that he would even honor it. Hitler made many such agreements. They all led to invading Poland in 1939. What makes Putin different? Especially since he’s modeled his entire regime on fascist principles.

To be clear about liberals - I think many of them are actually in favor of peace. Just not on Putin’s extreme terms.

Never trust a dictator.
