This is not true. Russia was heavily favored at the beginning. In fact, most western experts thought Kyiv would be overrun in a matter of days or weeks. The fact they’ve last this long is against all odds, especially given the war of attrition Putin has waged for the last year and considering Russia’s massive population advantage.
