Never once did I say to ban speech I don’t agree with. You injected that into the discussion and made giant assumptions.
The default position should be free speech absolutism, but we also need to remember that these are private actors, not state actors we’re discussing. The first amendment of the US Constitution technically only applies to the latter.
It’s the job of the former - social media companies - to not only promote free speech (if it’s good for business, and by all accounts it is), but also to create a safe environment where people aren’t harassed, abused, trafficked, or worse. Misinformation/disinformation is a harder one, but basic controls should probably be in place so platforms don’t become conspiracy theory ridden trash cans.
Say what you want about the new X, but having followed Musk’s feed for some time, it’s clear he doesn’t care about the truth, from accusing someone that saved Thai kids from a cave as being a “pedo” (with no basis in fact) to promoting baseless conspiracy theories from know conspiracy peddling websites that Paul Pelosi’s attacker was actually his gay lover.
If you want to live with blinders on, that’s your call. Peace.
