I have studied history enough to know that social media did not exist through any of the events you’ve cited.

Why should anonymity extend to social media? Do you not think it fuels hate speech, bigotry, misinformation, and disinformation? People hide behind monikers and feel empowered to say anything without repercussion.

The societal problems largely fueled by anonymity outweigh the benefits of making anonymous YouTube comments, for example.

If you want to make your point anonymously, create a work of art - like an article on Medium for example - that qualifies for copyright. As I said previously and in my article, my point is not to destroy all forms of anonymous speech, just the most venomous forms of it on social media.

If you disagree, how do you propose fixing the problem? Or do you think the current social media environment is healthy for society?
