I Changed My Name
Let’s get real(er)
For years I used a pseudonym. First it was Sebastian Stone. Then my son was born. There couldn’t be two Sebastians in the house, so while watching Succession one night I changed it to Logan Stone.
That was about two years ago.
So much life has happened since. For one, I’m no longer a lawyer. Only by education and license. I said bye to my corporate life in November 2021 and became a stay-at-home dad.
I haven’t looked back. At least not yet.
Most of my writing on this platform was focused on my experience and expertise. Law, politics, finance, etc. I sprinkled in cultural and culinary articles too, particularly through my publication Bon Vivant, but they were few and far between.
Given my career, I was hesitant about using my real name and picture. My writing was very political and not everyone digests that well. Especially if they are considering whether to hire you.
I don’t really have that concern anymore. But I’m still not using my FULL real name. How many people actually do online?
Johnny P though is a closer version of my real name, John. Even David Bowie had to give up Ziggy Stardust. It was too weird responding to emails as “Sebastian” or “Logan.”
