I agree to a point, but most of the content Musk peddles is unsubstantiated and frankly dangerous. For example, his retweeting the Paul Pelosi conspiracy about a gay lover when in reality Pelosi was bashed in the head with a hammer by a MAGA psycho… that was irresponsible at best and conniving at worst.
More and more I get the sense that this is really about free speech according to Elon, not in the absolutist sense. He bans journalists he doesn’t like while allowing extremists like Andrew Tate to spew toxic garbage in X’s growing cesspool.
I’ve been a defender of Elon (loved the bio by Isaacson), but he’s drastically changed and become dangerously extreme since buying Twitter. And while I think the democrats screwed up in supporting and celebrating his accomplishments, that doesn’t give him license to say and promote whatever he wants without criticism (especially when his content is increasingly far right and extreme in ideology).
