How a monopolist obtains and/or maintains its monopoly is very relevant under U.S. law as I described in this essay. Being a monopolist alone is not necessarily illegal (at least under U.S. law).

Also, I did not say that there are only two options in search. Please read the sections discussing Apple and the challenges of operating a search business - they describe how Apple could launch a search product of its own if they wanted to, and how the startup landscape avoids search, not necessarily because of Google but because it's simply a very hard business to scale and monetize effectively and efficiently.

I don't think turning search into a public utility would work, but I'd be interested to read any comprehensive piece you put together - in fact, I'd be happy to publish it here in The Political Prism.

I genuinely enjoy hearing feedback like this because we're not supposed to agree all of the time and I want to promote thoughtful perspectives that I don't agree with. Thank you for sharing.
