Generally agree on "genocide" - while some have tried to argue it meets the legal definition or that current actions could lead to it, nobody has conclusively proven it (from a legal perspective) with broad support from the international community. I think the best term to use is "war crimes."
Using "genocide" loosely is like comparing a politician you dislike to "Hitler." Can certain actions or words be Hitler-like from someone like Trump? Sure. But is he anywhere close to Adolf Hitler who started a World War, is responsible for the Holocaust, and ruined the lives of millions? Not even close.
Words matter and the fast and loose usage of the more meaningful ones like "genocide" have a detrimental and silencing effect on debate when they're only being used colloquially.
Otherwise, I completely agree with your assessment of this election cycle being GOP-dominated. As I've argued in other stories, I'm confounded by the nomination of Trump yet again when he's basically had a massive losing streak since winning in 2016 (just look at the 2022 midterm candidates he supported - aside from Vance they almost all lost).
