Foreign policy was a back burner issue for most voters who were primarily concerned about the effects of inflation over the past 4 years (and sure, wars played a part in that).
Also, America elected a black man as President two terms in a row. So I don't think skin color is all that important, although certainly relevant.
Perhaps being a woman plays a bigger role than I'm giving weight to, but many suburban women still voted for Trump. Which leads me to think it's less about Harris's personal attributes as it is her personal positions and her attachment to a deeply unpopular incumbent.
